Jesus' Death

As we look at the gospel, let's first look at why Jesus came to earth to die:

In Him (in Jesus) we have redemption* through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, Ephesians 1:7 (NAS)

The word redemption means to be released or set free as a result of a payment of a ransom...or to be delivered or set free from torture.  As we saw earlier in this lesson, when we sin we become separated from God and, as a result, we are to receive the penalty that sin pays...the penalty of death.

Question:

According to Ephesians 1:7, when we are in Jesus we have redemption* through what?

His Mother His Miracles His Blood

Other Translations - Ephesians 1:7:

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace (NIV)

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (NKJ)

In whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (ASV)

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (KJV)

* redemption means, literally, to be released as a result of payment of a ransom, to be delivered or set free from torture.
