The Gospel
1. Christ Died  2. Was Buried  3. Rose from Death

Now that we have a better understanding of why Jesus died...let's look at His resurrection from the tomb (the grave):

20But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming,  1 Corinthians 15:20-23  (NAS)

According to I Corinthians 15:20-23, Jesus was raised from the grave as the first fruits of those who are asleep (dead). "First fruits" is an agricultural term that refers to the first fruits that would appear on a tree or plant at the beginning of the growing season.

When it says that Christ was the "first fruits", it means that He would be the first of many to be raised from the dead in this manner.

Question:

When Jesus comes again, what will happen to those who belong to Christ?

Other Translations - 1 Corinthians 15:20-23:

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. (NIV)

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. (NKJ)

But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep. For since by man (came) death, by man (came) also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ's, at his coming. (ASV)

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. (KJV)
