Correct. Keep up the good work!
Therefore,
holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling,
consider
Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.
Hebrews 3:1 (NAS)
Since then we have
a great high
priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the
Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot
sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been
tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:14-15 (NAS)
The Only One? Or One of Many?
Jesus is our only High Priest. He is the
great high priest who offered Himself up for
us...one time for all people:
For
Christ also died for sins
once for all,
the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us
to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but
made alive in the spirit.. 1 Peter 3:18
What do you think about people
on this earth who now claim that they are the High
Priest, or that they are the supreme Teacher, or
Father, or Leader?
Consider Jesus' teaching in Matthew 23:8-11:
"But
do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and
you are all brothers. "And do not call anyone on
earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is
in heaven. And do not be called leaders; for One is
your Leader, that is, Christ. But the greatest among
you shall be your servant. Matthew 23:8-11 (NAS)
What would you think of a man who insisted on
being called Rabbi Bob, or Teacher Bob, or Leader
Bob, or Father Bob? Would Jesus want us to carry
these titles...or, instead, to be just considered as
fellow servants...brothers and sisters in His
kingdom?
