Correct!
"Behold,
days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will
make a new
covenant with the house of Israel and with
the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I
made with their fathers in the day I took them by
the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My
covenant which they broke, although I was a husband
to them," declares the LORD. Jeremiah 31:31-32
(NAS)
The reason for the
new covenant was clear. The Old Covenant (the
Law of Moses) had been broken. In a spiritual
sense, God was a husband to the children of
Israel...and the Israelites were God's spiritual
bride. Just as a wife who breaks the covenant
of marriage...the children of Israel had broken this
covenant with God:
"...My
covenant which they broke, although I was a husband
to them..." Jeremiah 31:32
A few verses later, God says:
"But
this is the covenant which I will make with the
house of Israel after those days," declares the
LORD, "I will put My law within them, and on their
heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and
they shall be My people." Jeremiah 31:33
How
do you feel about the words of the New Covenant,
also called the New Testament, being written on your
heart?
Can you have it written on your heart, if you
have never read it completely?
