Correct. Keep up the good work!
"And
to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win
Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the
Law, though not being myself under the Law, that I
might win those who are under the Law; to those who
are without law, as without law, though not being
without the law of God but under
the law of
Christ, that I might win those who are
without law." 1 Corinthians 9:20-21 (NAS)
"Brethren, even if a man is
caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual,
restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each
one looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted.
Bear one another's burdens, and thus
fulfill the
law of Christ." Galatians 6:1-2 (NAS)
"For the
law of the
Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you
free from the law of sin and of death*." Romans 8:2
(NAS)
Can You Be Justified Today Under the Law of
Moses?
"It
was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore
keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a
yoke of slavery. Behold I, Paul, say to you that if
you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no
benefit to you. And I testify again to every man who
receives circumcision, that he is under obligation
to keep the whole Law*. You have been severed from
Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law*;
you have fallen from grace." Galatians 5:1-4 (NAS)

How does the New Covenant Differ from the Law of
Moses?
Following are just a few of many comparisons of
the Law of Christ compared to the Law of Moses.
It is important that you read and study the entire
New Testament (the New Covenant) to fully understand
all the differences:
Examples of Differences Between the Old and
New Covenants |
Topic |
Old Covenant -
Law of Moses |
New Covenant -
Law of Christ |
1. Idolatry |
"You shall not make for
yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is
in heaven above or on the earth beneath or
in the water under the earth. "You shall not
worship them or serve them. You shall have
no other gods before Me." Exodus 20:4
(NAS) |
"Therefore consider the
members of your earthly body as dead to
immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire,
and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it
is on account of these things that the wrath
of God will come," Colossians 3:5-6 (NAS).
"Professing to be wise,
they became fools, and exchanged the glory
of the incorruptible God for an image in the
form of corruptible man and of birds and
four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of
their hearts to impurity, that their bodies
might be dishonored among them. For they
exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and
worshiped and served the creature rather
than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
Amen. Romans 1:22-25 (NAS) |
2. Observance of Sabbath
Day |
"Remember the sabbath
day, to keep it holy." Exodus 20:8
(NAS) |
Jesus said "Or
have you not read in the Law, that on the
Sabbath the priests in the temple break the
Sabbath, and are innocent? "But I say to
you, that something greater than the temple
is here. "But if you had known what this
means, 'I desire compassion, and not a
sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the
innocent. "For the Son of Man is Lord of the
Sabbath." Matthew 12:5-8 (NAS)
Jesus said "And
He was saying to them, "The Sabbath was made
for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
Consequently, the Son of Man is Lord even of
the Sabbath." Mark 2:27-28 (NAS)
"Therefore let no one
act as your judge in regard to food or drink
or in respect to a festival or a new moon or
a Sabbath day--things which are a mere
shadow of what is to come; but the substance
belongs to Christ." Colossians 2:16-17 (NAS)
|
3. Murder |
"You shall not murder.
Exodus 20:13 (NAS) |
Jesus said "You
have heard that the ancients were told, 'You
shall not commit murder' and 'Whoever
commits murder shall be liable to the
court.' "But I say to you that everyone who
is angry with his brother shall be guilty
before the court; and whoever shall say to
his brother, 'Raca,' shall be guilty before
the supreme court; and whoever shall say,
'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go
into the fiery hell." Matthew 5:21-22 (NAS) |
4. Adultery |
"You shall not commit
adultery." Exodus 20:14 (NAS) |
Jesus said "You
have heard that it was said, 'You shall not
commit adultery'; but I say to you, that
everyone who looks on a woman to lust for
her has committed adultery with her already
in his heart." Matthew 5:27-28 (NAS) |
5. Divorce |
"When a man takes a
wife and marries her, and it happens that
she finds no favor in his eyes because he
has found some indecency in her, and he
writes her a certificate of divorce and puts
it in her hand and sends her out from his
house..." Deuteronomy 24:1 (NAS) |
Jesus said "And
it was said, 'Whoever sends his wife away,
let him give her a certificate of divorce';
but I say to you that everyone who divorces
his wife, except for the cause of unchastity,
makes her commit adultery; and whoever
marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
Matthew 5:31-32 (NAS)
"And they said, "Moses
permitted a man to write a certificate of
divorce and send her away." But Jesus said
to them, "Because of your hardness of heart
he wrote you this commandment. "But from the
beginning of creation, God made them male
and female. "For this cause a man shall
leave his father and mother, and the two
shall become one flesh; consequently they
are no longer two, but one flesh. "What
therefore God has joined together, let no
man separate." And in the house the
disciples began questioning Him about this
again. And He said to them, "Whoever
divorces his wife and marries another woman
commits adultery against her; and if she
herself divorces her husband and marries
another man, she is committing adultery."
Mark 10:4-12 (NAS) |
The table above is not intended to be all
inclusive; but rather to give just a few examples of
the differences. In addition, following are
just a few of the general guidelines with respect to
the new covenant of Christ:
"And
He said to him,"' You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your mind.' "This is the great and foremost
commandment. "The second is like it, 'You shall love
your neighbor as yourself.' "On these two
commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."
Matthew 22:37-40 (NAS)
"Owe nothing to anyone except
to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor
has fulfilled the law. For this, "You shall not
commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not
steal, you shall not covet," and if there is any
other commandment, it is summed up in this saying,
"you shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Romans 13:8-9 (NAS)
"But do not let immorality or
any impurity or greed even be named among you, as is
proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness
and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not
fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you
know with certainty, that no immoral or impure
person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God."
Ephesians 5:3-5 (NAS)
