It is true that God requires sacrifices of animals, birds, etc. prior to the death of Christ.  When Jesus offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins, He did this once for all people.  But the desire for sacrifices is not God's main purpose in this plan of salvation.  Click on question 9 above.
