Correct.
"Pray,
then, in this way: 'Our Father who art in
heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. 10 'Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in
heaven. 11 'Give us this day our daily
bread. 12 'And forgive us our debts, as
we also have forgiven our debtors. 13
'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever. Amen.' 14 "For if
you forgive men for their transgressions, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15
"But if you do not forgive men, then your Father
will not forgive your transgressions. Matthew 6:9-15
(NAS)
The worship of men, women,
angels, idols, Satan or other created beings is
condemned in the Bible. There are examples
where men bowed down in front of angels or disciples
of Jesus, and were rebuked or told to "stand up."
Some examples follow:
And
I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things.
And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at
the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
And he said to me, "Do not do that; I am a fellow
servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets
and of those who heed the words of this book;
worship God." Revelation 22:8-9 (NAS)
And when it came about that
Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his
feet and worshiped him. But Peter raised him up,
saying, "Stand up; I too am just a man." Acts
10:25-26 (NAS)
And the rest of mankind, who
were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of
the works of their hands, so as not to worship
demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of
brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither
see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of
their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their
immorality nor of their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21
(NAS)
Let no one keep defrauding you
of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and
the worship of the angels, taking his stand on
visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his
fleshly mind, Colossians 2:18 (NAS)
Again, the devil took Him
(Jesus) to a
very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms
of the world, and their glory; and he said to Him,
"All these things will I give You, if You fall down
and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Begone,
Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the
Lord your God, and serve Him only.'" Matthew 4:8-10
(NAS)
For they exchanged the truth of
God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature
rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
Amen. Romans 1:25 (NAS)
Worship God
The resounding theme of
scripture is that we should worship God (see
Revelation 22:9 above), we should worship the Lord
our God (see Matthew 4:8-10 above), we should
worship the Creator instead of the creature (see
Romans 1:25 above). Throughout the Bible you
see examples of God the Father and Jesus the Son of
God being the proper recipients of worship (e.g., see
Matthew 2:11, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 28:9-17, John
9:38, Revelation 7:11, Revelation 11:16).
In all the examples of prayer
toward God given in the Bible, all of them are
directed toward God the Father.
