18:21-35:
Then
Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times
shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me?
Up to seven times?" 22 Jesus answered, "I
tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
23 "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is
like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his
servants. 24 As he began the settlement,
a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought
to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay,
the master ordered that he and his wife and his
children and all that he had be sold to repay the
debt. 26 "The servant fell on his knees
before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I
will pay back everything.' 27 The
servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt
and let him go. 28 "But when that servant
went out, he found one of his fellow servants who
owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began
to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he
demanded. 29 "His fellow servant fell to
his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I
will pay you back.' 30 "But he refused.
Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into
prison until he could pay the debt. 31
When the other servants saw what had happened, they
were greatly distressed and went and told their
master everything that had happened. 32
"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked
servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of
yours because you begged me to. 33
Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant
just as I had on you?' 34 In anger his
master turned him over to the jailers to be
tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat
each of you unless you forgive your brother from
your heart." (NIV)
Then
Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall
my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to
seven times?" 22 Jesus said to him, "I do
not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy
times seven. 23 "Therefore the kingdom of
heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle
accounts with his servants. 24 "And when
he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to
him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25
"But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded
that he be sold, with his wife and children and all
that he had, and that payment be made. 26
"The servant therefore fell down before him, saying,
'Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you
all.' 27 "Then the master of that servant
was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave
him the debt. 28 "But that servant went
out and found one of his fellow servants who owed
him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and
took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay me what you
owe!' 29 "So his fellow servant fell down
at his feet and begged him, saying, 'Have patience
with me, and I will pay you all.' 30 "And
he would not, but went and threw him into prison
till he should pay the debt. 31 "So when
his fellow servants saw what had been done, they
were very grieved, and came and told their master
all that had been done. 32 "Then his
master, after he had called him, said to him, 'You
wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because
you begged me. 33 'Should you not also
have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as
I had pity on you?' 34 "And his master
was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until
he should pay all that was due to him. 35
"So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each
of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother
his trespasses." (NKJ)
Then
came Peter and said to him, Lord, how oft shall my
brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until
seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I
say not unto thee, Until seven times; but, Until
seventy times seven. 23 Therefore is the
kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, who
would make a reckoning with his servants. 24
And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought
unto him, that owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not (wherewith) to
pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his
wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment
to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell
down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience
with me, and I will pay thee all. 27 And
the lord of that servant, being moved with
compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.
28 But that servant went out, and found
one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred
shillings: and he laid hold on him, and took (him)
by the throat, saying, Pay what thou owest. 29
So his fellow-servant fell down and besought
him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay
thee. 30 And he would not: but went and
cast him into prison, till he should pay that which
was due. 31 So when his fellow-servants
saw what was done, they were exceeding sorry, and
came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord called him unto him, and
saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee
all that debt, because thou besoughtest me: 33
shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy
fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee? 34
And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the
tormentors, till he should pay all that was due.
35 So shall also my heavenly Father do
unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother
from your hearts. (ASV)

lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and
loosed him, and forgave him the debt. 28
But the same servant went out, and found one of his
fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and
he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat,
saying, Pay me that thou owest. 29 And
his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and
besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I
will pay thee all. 30 And he would not:

was done. 32 Then his lord, after that he

servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou

had pity on thee? 34 And his lord was
wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he
should pay all that was due unto him. 35
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto
you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one
his brother their trespasses. (KJV) |
