For the balance of this lesson, we will focus on prayers that are not directed toward people or things that have been created, but instead...prayers that are directed to the Creator.

In the examples that Jesus gives of who we direct our prayers to, He says:

"...pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.  Matthew 6:6b (NAS)

"...Truly, truly, I say to you, if you shall ask the Father for anything, He will give it to you in My name. John 16:23 (NAS)

Question:

According to Matthew 6:6 and John 16:23, we should pray to whom?

...pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (NIV)

Other Translations - John 16:23:

In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (NIV)

And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. (NKJ)

And in that day ye shall ask me no question. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if ye shall ask anything of the Father, he will give it you in my name. (ASV)

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. (KJV)
