Other Translations - Matthew 6:1-6:
"Be
careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness'
before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will
have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "So
when you give to the needy, do not announce it with
trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and
on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the
truth, they have received their reward in full. 3
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left
hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that
your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who
sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 5 "And
when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on
the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the
truth, they have received their reward in full. 6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door
and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your
Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward
you. (NIV)
"Take
heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before
men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no
reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "Therefore,
when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a
trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the
synagogues and in the streets, that they may have
glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have
their reward. 3 "But when you do a charitable deed,
do not let your left hand know what your right hand
is doing, 4 "that your charitable deed may be in
secret; and your Father who sees in secret will
Himself reward you openly. 5 "And when you pray, you
shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to
pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners
of the streets, that they may be seen by men.
Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6
"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when
you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is
in the secret place; and your Father who sees in
secret will reward you openly. (NKJ)
Take
heed that ye do not your righteousness before men,
to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your
Father who is in heaven. 2 When therefore thou doest
alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets,
that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto
you, They have received their reward. 3 But when
thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy
right hand doeth: 4 that thine alms may be in
secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall
recompense thee. 5 And when ye pray, ye shall not be
as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray
in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets,
that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you,
They have received their reward. 6 But thou, when
thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and
having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in
secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall
recompense thee. (ASV)
