How the Spirit is to be Poured Out on All Mankind:

As we have learned earlier in this lesson...before the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, God gave His Holy Spirit to only specific individuals.  Now that the Holy Spirit is able to be poured out on all mankind, we see the apostles telling more about this:

"And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him." Acts 5:32 (Peter and the other apostles speaking to the Jewish Council in Jerusalem - NAS)

Question:

According to Acts 5:32, God now gives His Holy Spirit to whom?

  1. Everyone in the world, regardless of what they believe or do.
  2. Only specific leaders and prophets.
  3. Those who obey Him.

"We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him." (NIV)

"And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him." (NKJ)

And we are witnesses of these things; and (so is) the Holy Spirit, whom God hath given to them that obey him. (ASV)

"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." (KJV)
