Faith is the Assurance of Things Hoped For:
Do you have faith in these promises of Christ...
a faith that leads to obedience?
"...through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the
obedience of faith among all the Gentiles, for His name's sake..." Romans
1:5 (NAS)
Many of Jesus' promises are conditional upon some action and/or belief on our
part. We have the free will to choose to act...or to reject the promises.
Not Trusting in our Own Works:
When we obey, we are not to
have faith in our own works...as we can never work hard enough to earn our own
salvation. Instead, our faith is in the working of God and Jesus in giving
what they have promised:
"And
we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full
assurance of hope until the end,
12
that you may not be
sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the
promises." Hebrews 6:11-12 (NAS)
