Read Chapter 2 Chapter 2:8-11: The message written to the church in Smyrna:

New American Standard Version of the Bible"And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this: 9'I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10'Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.' Revelation 2:8-11 (NAS)

The Persecution:

Jesus (the first and last, who was dead and lives again) tells the Christians in the city of Smyrna that He knows of the persecution they are suffering...and their physical poverty.  Not only are they suffering physically, but they are faced with evil people who are making false claims about themselves.

Jesus tells them "do not fear" what is about to happen.  They will be cast into prison to be tried...and they shall have tribulation for a period of time.

Question:

In Revelation 2:10, Jesus tells the Christians in the congregation in the city of Smyrna not to fear...and to be faithful for how long?

Until they are Saved Until Death For 10 Days

Other Translations - Revelation 2:8-11:

Easy-to-Read Version of the Bible"Write this to the angel of the church in Smyrna: "The One who is the First and the Last is saying these things [to you]. He is the One who died and came to life again. 9I know your troubles, and I know that you are poor. But really you are rich! I know the bad things that some people say [about you]. Those people say they are Jews. But they are not true Jews. They are a synagogue (group) that belongs to Satan (the devil). 10Don't be afraid of the things that will happen to you. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison. He will do this to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But be faithful, even if you have to die. If you continue faithful, then I will give you the crown of life. 11"Every person that hears these things should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. The person that wins the victory will not be hurt by the second death." (ERV)

American Standard Version of the BibleAnd to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things saith the first and the last, who was dead, and lived (again): 9I know thy tribulation, and thy poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of them that say they are Jews, and they art not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life. 11He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. (ASV)
