Correct.
And
the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone,
where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day
and night forever and ever. 11And I saw a great white throne and Him
who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place
was found for them. 12And I
saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and
books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and
the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according
to their deeds. Revelation 20:10-12 (NAS)
Let's first look again at the fate of Satan and
his armies:
Satan's
eternal torment:
And
they (Satan and his armies) came up on the broad
plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the
saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from
heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil
who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire
and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet
are also; and they will be tormented day and night
forever and ever. Revelation 20:9-10(NAS)
The lake of fire is not pictured as an instant
death, but rather as a place of eternal torment.
Satan, the beast and the false prophet will be
"tormented day and night forever."
John saw the dead, the great and the small, standing
before the throne:
"And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing
before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which
is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were
written in the books, according to their deeds. Revelation 20:12
(NAS)
What happened to the dead that stood
before the throne?
"...and the dead were judged from the things which were
written in the books, according to their deeds." Revelation 20:12
(NAS)
Compare what is recorded in
Revelation 20:12 with the following scriptures:
"And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and
after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear
the sins of many, shall appear a second time for salvation without reference
to sin, to those who eagerly await Him." Hebrews 9:27-28 (NAS)
"And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, 'Blessed
are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that
they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them."
Revelation 14:13 (NAS)
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to
come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life
for My sake shall find it. For what will a man be profited, if he gains
the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in
exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory
of His Father with His angels; and will then recompense every man according to
his deeds." Matthew 16:24-27 (NAS)
"Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all
who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who did
the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds
to a resurrection of judgment. John 5:28-29 (NAS)
"But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you
are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the
righteous judgment of God, who will render to every man according to his
deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and
honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious
and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of
the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to every
man who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is
no partiality with God. Romans 2:5-11 (NAS)
