Correct!
Acts 2:37-39 says: And Peter said to them, "Repent,
and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for
the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. "For the promise
is for you and your children, and for all who are
far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to
Himself." Acts 2:37-39 (NAS) This is a
Promise:
When a person who believes repents and is
baptized for the forgiveness of sins...they are
promised 1) forgiveness of sins, and 2) the gift of
the Holy Spirit (see Lesson 5). This is a "promise" for
"you and your children, and for all that are far
off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to
Himself."
Do you have faith that God will give you these
things if you repent and are baptized for the
forgiveness of sins? Jesus' Instructions Before He Ascended to
Heaven:
Jesus said in Mark 16:15-16 --
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all
creation. He who has believed and has been baptized
shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be
condemned." Mark 16:15-16 (NAS)
Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 --
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NAS)
How Many Had Faith and Obeyed?
How many people that heard and believed Peter's
sermon decided that they would "repent and be
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of sins"?
"So then, those who had received his word were
baptized; and there were added that day about three
thousand souls." Acts 2:41 (NAS)
Are you willing to also have
faith (as these 3,000 did) that God will save you if
you do the same? For additional scriptures
