20:28-31:
Keep
watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the
Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of
the church of God, which he bought with his own
blood. 29 I know that after I leave,
savage wolves will come in among you and will not
spare the flock. 30 Even from your own
number men will arise and distort the truth in order
to draw away disciples after them. 31 So
be on your guard! Remember that for three years I
never stopped warning each of you night and day with
tears. (NIV)
Therefore
take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among
which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to
shepherd the church of God which He purchased with
His own blood. 29 For I know this, that
after my departure savage wolves will come in among
you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from
among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse
things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
31 Therefore watch, and remember that for
three years I did not cease to warn everyone night
and day with tears. (NKJ)
Take
heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which
the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the
church of the Lord which he purchased with his own
blood. 29 I know that after my departing
grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not
sparing the flock; 30 and from among your
own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse
things, to draw away the disciples after them.
31 Wherefore watch ye, remembering that by the
space of three years I ceased not to admonish every
one night and day with tears. (ASV)
Take
heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the
flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you
overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath
purchased with his own blood. 29 For I
know this, that after my departing shall grievous
wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men
arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away
disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch,
and remember, that by the space of three years I
ceased not to warn every one night and day with
tears. (KJV)
Other Translations - 1 Peter 1:5-4:
To
the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a
witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will
share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of
God's flock that is under your care, serving as
overseers-- not because you must, but because you
are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for
money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those
entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will
receive the crown of glory that will never fade
away. (NIV)
The
elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a
fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of
Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that
will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God
which is among you, serving as overseers, not by
compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain
but eagerly; nor as being lords over those
entrusted to you, but being examples to the
flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you
will receive the crown of glory that does not
fade away. (NKJ)
The elders among you I exhort,
who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the
sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of
the glory that shall be revealed: Tend the flock
of God which is among you, exercising the
oversight, not of constraint, but willingly,
according to (the will of) God; nor yet for
filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as
lording it over the charge allotted to you, but
making yourselves ensamples to the flock. And
when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye
shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not
away. (ASV)
The elders which are among you I
exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of
the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of
the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock
of God which is among you, taking the oversight
thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not
for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither
as being lords over God's heritage, but being
ensamples to the flock. And when the chief
Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown
of glory that fadeth not away. (KJV) |
