Then
the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you
may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory
passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and
cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see
my back; but my face must not be seen." (NIV)
And
the LORD said, "Here is a place by Me, and you shall
stand on the rock. 22 "So it shall be,

while I pass by. 23 "Then I will take
away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face
shall not be seen." (NKJ)

cover thee with my hand until I have passed by:
23 and I will take away my hand, and thou
shalt see my back; but my face shall not be seen. (ASV)

34:28-35:
Moses
was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights
without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote
on the tablets the words of the covenant-- the Ten
Commandments. 29 When Moses came down
from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the
Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his
face was radiant because he had spoken with the
LORD. 30 When Aaron and all the
Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they
were afraid to come near him. 31 But
Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders
of the community came back to him, and he spoke to
them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites
came near him, and he gave them all the commands the
LORD had given him on Mount Sinai. 33
When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil
over his face. 34 But whenever he entered
the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed
the veil until he came out. And when he came out and
told the Israelites what he had been commanded,
35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then
Moses would put the veil back over his face until he
went in to speak with the LORD. (NIV)
So
he was there with the LORD forty days and forty
nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He
wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the
Ten Commandments. 29 Now it was so, when
Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two
tablets of the Testimony were in Moses' hand when he
came down from the mountain), that Moses did not
know that the skin of his face shone while he talked
with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the
children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of
his face shone, and they were afraid to come near
him. 31 Then Moses called to them, and
Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation
returned to him; and Moses talked with them. 32
Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and
he gave them as commandments all that the LORD had
spoken with him on Mount Sinai. 33 And
when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a
veil on his face. 34 But whenever Moses
went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would
take the veil off until he came out; and he would
come out and speak to the children of Israel
whatever he had been commanded. 35 And
whenever the children of Israel saw the face of
Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone, then
Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he
went in to speak with Him. (NKJ)
