2:6-8:
Who,
being in very nature God, did not consider equality
with God something to be grasped, but made himself
nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being
made in human likeness. And being found in
appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient to death-- even death on a cross! (NIV)
"...who,
being in the form of God, did not consider it
robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no
reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and
coming in the likeness of men. And being found in
appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became
obedient to the point of death, even the death of
the cross." (NKJ)
"...who,
existing in the form of God, counted not the being
on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but
emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being
made in the likeness of men; and being found
in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming
obedient (even) unto death, yea, the death of the
cross." (ASV)
"Who,
being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to
be equal with God: But made himself of no
reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men: And being found
in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." (KJV) |
