you shall
put some of your authority on him, in order

The Effect of the Spirit
These people who received the Holy Spirit did
not shake or roll on the ground. They did
not speak in languages that could not be
understood. They also did not become
perfect (e.g., the example of King Saul who received
the Spirit, but because of his disobedience to God,
the Spirit was taken away from him).
As we saw earlier, the Spirit influenced these
men and women to speak the word of God. And,
as we saw above, the Spirit influenced them to lead,
to judge, to comfort, to have physical power to
accomplish God's will (e.g., the example of Sampson
in Judges 14), to change their lives for the better,
etc.
