Comparison of KJV, NAS and NIV:  Use of the Word Faith --

The following table shows a few of many examples of the differences between these three translations in how the word "faith" is used in the Old Testament:

Bible Reference:

Deuteronomy 32:51 "...because you broke faith with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel." "...Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel." "This is because both of you broke faith with me in the presence of the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin and because you did not uphold my holiness among the Israelites."

Job 39:12 "Will you have faith in him that he will return your grain, and gather it from your threshing floor?

"Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?" "Can you trust him to bring in your grain and gather it to your threshing floor?"
Psalm 146:6  "Who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever..."

"Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:" "...the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-- the LORD, who remains faithful forever."
Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; but the righteous will live by his faith." "Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright-- but the righteous will live by his faith-- "
1 Samuel 14:33 "Then they told Saul, saying, "Behold, the people are sinning against the LORD by eating with the blood." And he said, "You have acted treacherously; roll a great stone to me today."

Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day. Then someone said to Saul, "Look, the men are sinning against the LORD by eating meat that has blood in it." "You have broken faith," he said. "Roll a large stone over here at once."
Deuteronomy 32:20 "Then He said, 'I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end shall be; for they are a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness. And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. "I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.
