The gospel message...the message of God's grace...shows us how Jesus paid the
penalty of our sin through His death on the cross...and how Jesus became the
first fruits of the resurrection from the dead.
How Long Does Grace Continue?
We live by faith...an obedient faith. But even after we become
Christians...when our faith fails...if we walk in the light (as the New
Testament describes) God and Jesus' grace still covers our sins:
"And
this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is
light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6
If we say
that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not
practice the truth;
7
but if we walk in the light as He
Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8
If we say that
we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to
forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10
If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is
not in us." I John 1:5-10 (John, writing to the Christians - NAS)
Should We
Continue to Sin Intentionally So that Grace May Abound?
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace might increase?
2
May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live
in it?
3
Or do you not know that all of us who have been
baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
4
Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that
as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too
might walk in newness of life." Romans 6:1-4 (NAS)
