Keep up the good work!
 And
there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels
waging war with the dragon. And the dragon and his
angels waged war, 8and they were not
strong enough, and there was no longer a place found
for them in heaven. 9And the great dragon
was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called
the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world;
he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were
thrown down with him. 10And I heard a
loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation,
and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the
authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser
of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses
them before our God day and night. 11And
they
overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and
because of the word of their testimony, and they did
not love their life even to death. Revelation
12:7-11 (NAS)
Even though the angels of God had thrown down Satan from heaven to the earth,
Satan was not yet defeated. Those who are followers of God and Christ
would still need to defend themselves from Satan. They would overcome
Satan by three things:
-
The
blood of
the Lamb (verse 11),
-
because of the
word of
their testimony (verse 11), and
-
they
did not
love their life even to death (verse 11).
How important would it be for Christians under great persecution to know that
Satan can be overcome by the blood of the Lamb, by the word of their testimony,
and by not shrinking back from that testimony even if it means death?
Salvation, power, kingdom and authority have
come:
Let's look closer at verse 10:
And
I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the
salvation,
and the
power, and the
kingdom
of our God and the
authority
of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our
brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them
before our God day and night. Revelation 12:10 (NAS)

Comparison to the Story of Jesus |
"The
salvation" has come. |
When Jesus died
on the cross, He paid the price for our
sins. It is only through the blood of
Christ that our sins can be forgiven.
See Lesson 1 for a more complete look at the
gospel of Christ. |
"The power"
has come. |
After Jesus
rose from the dead and just prior to His
ascension into heaven, He told them to wait
in Jerusalem a short while until they were
clothed with power from God (the Holy
Spirit).
"And
behold, I am sending forth the promise of My
Father upon you; but you are to stay in the
city until you are clothed with power from
on high."
Luke 24:49
(NAS)
He said to them, "It is
not for you to know times or epochs which
the Father has fixed by His own authority;
8but you shall receive power when
the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you
shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and
in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the
remotest part of the earth." 9And
after He had said these things, He was
lifted up while they were looking on, and a
cloud received Him out of their sight.
Acts 1:7-9
(NAS) |
"The kingdom
of our God and the authority of His Christ"
have come. |
In Acts 2, the
promised Holy Spirit was poured out, the
gospel message was preached by Peter.
The
three thousand people who believed the
message repented and were baptized
for the forgiveness of their sins. The
Lord gave these 3,000 people the gift of the Holy
Spirit and added them to His church (the
kingdom of God and Christ). For more
information, see Acts chapter 2 and Lessons
1 and 2. Jesus Christ had been given all
authority following His death on the
cross...and hd authorized His disciples to
preach the gospel and to baptize:
And
Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All
authority has been given to Me in
heaven and on earth. 19"Go
therefore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe all that I
commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age." Matthew
28:18-20 (NAS) |

(Jesus), your obedience to the word of testimony...and your faithfulness until
