Correct.

The text does not specifically name who the beasts are. The mark of the beast on the right hand or forehead was to be his name or his number (it is unclear as to whether this refers to the first beast or the 2nd beast). There is one additional clue given about the number:

New American Standard Version of the Bible"Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man..."  (NAS)

So who are the beasts?

Although they are not specifically named, it is presumed that the followers of Christ to whom the Revelation was written in those days either knew...or would soon know who it was that would wage war against them.  Certainly the followers of Jesus faced persecution in the time the Revelation was written and continued to suffer intense persecution for the first several hundred years A.D.

Even today, there are places in the world where Christians fear torture, imprisonment and death.  Today, we are still faced with people teaching false things and people who lead people into false things through various means...including claims to work miracles.  God's call for His followers to remain faithful to His word until death is as true today as it was in the days that John received the Revelation.

What are the instructions given to these bond-servants of God?

"If any person is to be a prisoner, then that person will be a prisoner. If any person kills with a sword, then that person will be killed with a sword. This means that God's holy people must have patience and faith."  Revelation 13:10 (ERV)

We continue to add below to the list of promises that Jesus makes to His followers:
