Correct. Keep up the good work!
"And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and
surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city,
and fire came down
from heaven and devoured them.
Revelation 20:9 (NAS)
The Revelation records no battle, and no
struggle. Instead, fire was sent from heaven
to devour the nations that surrounded the camp of
the saints.
Let's
look at what the Revelation says again:
1. Satan will be released from his prison:
And
when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be
released from his prison... Revelation 20:7
(NAS)
2. Satan will come out to deceive the nations,
Gog and Magog:
...and
will come out to deceive the nations which are in
the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog...
Revelation 20:8a (NAS)
In the Old Testament, the Lord set His face
against Gog and Magog (see Ezekiel 38:2-3). Gog and
Magog were evil and devised evil plots against
innocent people (see Ezekiel 38:10-12). The Lord
promised that He would destroy Gog and Magog and
feed their flesh to animals and birds (see Ezekiel
39:1-4). The Lord would send fire on them and
destroy them...and the servants of the Lord would
bury them for seven months to cleanse the land (see
Ezekiel 39:5-16). It appears that Gog and Magog are used in the Revelation to symbolize all
those who are against the Lord.
3. Satan will gather them (the nations,
Gog and Magog) for war:
...to
gather them together for the war; the number of them
is like the sand of the seashore. 9And
they came up on the broad plain of the earth and
surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved
city... Revelation 20:8b-9a (NAS)
4. But fire came down from heaven and
devoured them:
As
we noted above...although Satan deceives and
prepares people to war against the Lord and the
saints of the Lord, when Satan and these armies
surround the camp of the saints...there is no record
of any battle with the saints...no record of any
conflict. The only thing that is recorded is:
...and
fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
Revelation 20:8b-9 (NAS)
How does it make you feel that God
continues to protect His saints...devouring His
enemies with fire from heaven?
