Correct.
"...and
so death spread to all men, because all sinned."
Romans 5:12
When I commit my first sin, then I suffer
spiritual death (separation from God).
Jesus spoke of infants and young children:
And
they were bringing even their babies to Him so that
He might touch them, but when the disciples saw it,
they began rebuking them. But Jesus called for them,
saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do
not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to
such as these." Luke 18:15-16 (NAS)
How does it make you feel that the kingdom of God
belongs to babies and young children who have no
sin?
Note: The Bible says that a son does not
inherit the sins of his parents:
Ezekiel
18:20 says: "The person who sins will die. The son
will not bear the punishment for the father's
iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment
for the son's iniquity; the righteousness of the
righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness
of the wicked will be upon himself." (NAS)
Jesus spoke of older children; those who were
old enough to believe:
Jesus also spoke of children who
were old enough to believe that were caused to
stumble or sin.
"And
whoever receives one such child in My name receives
Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who
believe in Me to stumble, it is better for him that
a heavy millstone be hung around his neck, and that
he be drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew
18:5-6 (NAS)
How terrible a thing it is when a little one who
believes in Jesus is caused to stumble (Romans 6:23
says "the wages of sin is death"). How
terrible it is for one who causes that little one to
stumble.
God's plan for those of us who have sinned:
God sent His Son to die...so that those who
believe and obey Him might become as little children
again:
"At
that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who
then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And He
called a child to Himself and set him before them,
and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are
converted and become like children, you shall not
enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:1-6 (NAS)
"Jesus answered, "Truly, truly,
I say to you, unless one is born of water and the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
John 3:5 (NAS)
Jesus said "He who has believed
and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has
disbelieved shall be condemned." Mark 16:16 (NAS)
"Or do you not know that all of
us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have
been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been
buried with Him through baptism into death, in order
that as Christ was raised from the dead through the
glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness
of life. For if we have become united with Him in
the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be
also in the likeness of His resurrection..." Romans
6:3-5 (NAS)
