The Physical Nature of Jesus, the Son of God:

As we look at the time that Jesus became flesh, let's look further at the significance of His birth:

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14  (prophesying about the birth of Christ - NAS)

Matthew 1:23-25 -- "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which translated means, "God with us." And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus." (NAS)

"And Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" Luke 1:34 (NAS)

"And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus." Matthew 1:24-25 (NAS)

According to the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14, the Lord Himself would give them a sign.  A sign is something out of the ordinary...a flag...a beacon that shows a significant event is happening:

Question:

According to the scriptures above, what was this significant sign related to the coming of Jesus?

  1. A married couple would have a child through the normal child-bearing process.
  2. An unmarried girl would have sexual relations and, as a result, bear a child outside of marriage.
  3. A girl who has never had sexual relations (a virgin) would be found with a child in her womb...and she is still a virgin.

1. 2. 3.
