Correct!
Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said to those who were following,
"Truly I say to you, I have not found
such great faith with anyone in Israel.
11
"And I
say to you, that many shall come from east and west, and recline at the table
with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;
12
but the sons of the kingdom shall be
cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there shall be weeping
and gnashing of teeth."
13
And Jesus said to the
centurion, "Go your way; let it be done to you as you have believed." And the
servant was healed that very hour." Matthew 8:10-13 (NAS)
Later on it would be clearer to the Israelites (the Jews) that the
Gentiles* would also be able to inherit the kingdom of heaven.
* Gentile is a word for all people who are not of the
children of Israel (e.g., Romans, Greeks...anyone who is not of Jewish descent).
By Faith:
The Centurion's Servant Was Healed (Matthew
8:10-13)
Faith is the assurance of things
hoped for...
the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews
11:1 |
1. What is the
thing hoped for...or is not seen? |
What Is
The Thing Hoped For:
That
the Centurion's servant who was paralyzed
would be healed. |
2. What is
man's
part, if any? |
Nothing, other than asking Jesus for the
healing. Jesus did not ask the
Centurion to do anything. |
3. What is
God's part? |
Jesus healed the servant. |
4. How did the
Centurion have this assurance and conviction
that God could heal his servant with just
speaking it? |
-
Understand the thing hoped
for...or the thing not seen.
-
Hear God's word (Faith comes
by hearing...and hearing by the word of
Christ. Romans 10:17) to
understand God's power and faithfulness
to His promises.
-
Do your part, if any.
-
Trust God that He has done what
He has said...and/or that He will do
what He promises.
-
Pray that God will help increase
your belief and faith (Luke 17:5, Mark
9:23-24) and give you wisdom (James 1:5).
