Correct.
And
I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one
hundred and forty-four thousand, having
His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads.
Revelation 14:1 (NAS)
The seal of God was not specifically identified before.
However, we now
know that it was a mark or seal containing the name of the Lamb (Jesus) and His
Father. In the picture to the right, God's name and the Lamb's name
(Jesus) are depicted in Hebrew and Greek,
respectively, for illustration purposes only.
The contrast between Chapter 13 and Chapter 14 is
clear. Do you wear the name of the beast (a
servant of Satan) or do you wear the name of God and
Christ? Is your allegiance to God and
Jesus...or to someone or something else? This is a choice that each man
and woman must decide on their own.
Let's look at a few of many important scriptures
about the importance of these names:
What is the importance of Jesus' name?
"...let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that
by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God
raised from the dead-- by this name this man (a sick man that Jesus had
healed) stands here before you in good health. He (Jesus) is the
stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the very
corner stone. And there is salvation in no one else; for
there is no other
name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:10-12 (NAS)
"...and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who
believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His
might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and
seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places
far above all rule and
authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only
in this age, but also in the one to come. And He put all things in
subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all." Ephesians
1:19-23 (NAS)
"And whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord
Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Colossians 3:17
(NAS)
"Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is
above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those
who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue
should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:9-11 (NAS)
"And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be
glorified in the Son." John 14:13 (NAS)
"So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with
the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
always giving thanks
for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the
Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Wives, be
subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord... Ephesians 5:17-22
(NAS)
"Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart?
For I am ready not only to be bound, but even
to die at Jerusalem for the name
of the Lord Jesus." Acts 21:13 (NAS)
The name of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them
in
the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the
end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NAS)
"And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were
sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and
in the Spirit of our God." 1 Corinthians 6:11 (NAS)
"And it came about that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed
through the upper country came to Ephesus, and found some disciples, and he
said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And
they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into
John's baptism." And Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of
repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him,
that is, in Jesus." And when they heard this, they were baptized
in the
name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 19:1-5 (NAS)
