Deuteronomy
13:1-4 -- "If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a
sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he
spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and
let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that
dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love
the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. "You shall follow
the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to
His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him." (NAS)
Joshua 23:8-13 -- "But you are
to cling to the LORD your God, as you have done to
this day. "For the LORD has driven out great and
strong nations from before you; and as for you, no
man has stood before you to this day. "One of your
men puts to flight a thousand, for the LORD your God
is He who fights for you, just as He promised you.
"So take diligent heed to yourselves to love the
LORD your God. "For if you ever go back and cling to
the rest of these nations, these which remain among
you, and intermarry with them, so that you associate
with them and they with you, know with certainty
that the LORD your God will not continue to drive
these nations out from before you; but they shall be
a snare and a trap to you, and a whip on your sides
and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off
this good land which the LORD your God has given
you." (NAS)
Psalm 33:12-22 -- "Blessed is
the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom He
has chosen for His own inheritance. The LORD looks
from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; From His
dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants
of the earth, He who fashions the hearts of them
all, He who understands all their works. The king is
not saved by a mighty army; a warrior is not
delivered by great strength. A horse is a false hope
for victory; nor does it deliver anyone by its great
strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those
who fear Him, On those who hope for His
lovingkindness, To deliver their soul from death,
and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for
the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For our
heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy
name. Let Thy lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us,
according as we have hoped in Thee." (NAS)
Isaiah 45:22 -- "Turn to me,
and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am
God, and there is no other." (NAS)
Isaiah 49:6 -- "He says, "It is
too small a thing that you should be My servant to
raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the
preserved ones of Israel; I will also make you a
light of the nations so that My salvation may reach
to the end of the earth." (NAS)
Ezekiel 18:32 -- "For I have no
pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares
the Lord GOD. "Therefore, repent and live." (NAS)
Ezekiel 33:11 -- "Say to them,
'As I live!' declares the Lord GOD, 'I take no
pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that
the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back,
turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you
die, O house of Israel?'" (NAS)
Luke 14:23 -- "And the master
said to the slave, 'Go out into the highways and
along the hedges, and compel them to come in, that
my house may be filled." (NAS)
John 3:16-17 -- "For God so
loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but
have eternal life. "For God did not send the Son
into the world to judge the world, but that the
world should be saved through Him." (NAS)
John 6:38-40 -- "For I have
come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but
the will of Him who sent Me. "And this is the will
of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me
I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.
"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone
who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have
eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the
last day." (NAS)
1 Timothy 2:3-6 -- "This is
good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and
one mediator also between God and men, the man
Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all,
the testimony borne at the proper time." (NAS)
Titus 2:11-14 -- "For the grace
of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly
desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly
in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and
the appearing of the glory of our great God and
Savior, Christ Jesus; who gave Himself for us, that
He might redeem us from every lawless deed and
purify for Himself a people for His own possession,
zealous for good deeds." (NAS)
James 4:4-6 -- "You
adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with
the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever
wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an
enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture
speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the
Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"? But He
gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "God is
opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the
humble." (NAS)
2 Peter 3:9-13 -- "The Lord is
not slow about His promise, as some count slowness,
but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to
perish but for all to come to repentance. But the
day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the
heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements
will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth
and its works will be burned up. Since all these
things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of
people ought you to be in holy conduct and
godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of
the day of God, on account of which the heavens will
be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt
with intense heat! But according to His promise we
are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in
which righteousness dwells." (NAS)
