Deuteronomy
33:27 -- "The eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the
everlasting arms; and He drove out the enemy from before you, and said,
'Destroy!'" (NAS)
2 Samuel 22:2-3 -- "And he
said, "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my
deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold and my refuge; My savior, Thou dost save
me from violence." (NAS)
Psalm 45:6-7 -- "Thy throne, O
God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness
is the scepter of Thy kingdom. Thou hast loved
righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God,
Thy God, has anointed Thee with the oil of joy above
Thy fellows." (NAS)
Psalm 46:1-7 -- "God is our
refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should
change, and though the mountains slip into the heart
of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, though
the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of
God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High. God
is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God
will help her when morning dawns. The nations made
an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His
voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with
us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah."
(NAS)
Psalm 59:9 -- "Because of his strength I will
watch for Thee, for God is my stronghold." (NAS)
Psalm 59:17 -- "O my strength,
I will sing praises to Thee; for God is my
stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness."
(NAS)
Psalm 62:8 -- "Trust in Him at
all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah." (NAS)
Psalm 73:26-28 -- "My flesh and
my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my
heart and my portion forever. For, behold, those who
are far from Thee will perish; Thou hast destroyed
all those who are unfaithful to Thee. But as for me,
the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord
GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all Thy works."
(NAS)
Psalm 84:9-12 -- "Behold our
shield, O God, and look upon the face of Thine
anointed. For a day in Thy courts is better than a
thousand outside. I would rather stand at the
threshold of the house of my God, than dwell in the
tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and
shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; no good
thing does He withhold from those who walk
uprightly. O LORD of hosts, how blessed is the man
who trusts in Thee!" (NAS)
Nahum 1:2-7 -- "A jealous and
avenging God is the LORD; the LORD is avenging and
wrathful. The LORD takes vengeance on His
adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies.
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and
the LORD will by no means leave the guilty
unpunished. In whirlwind and storm is His way, and
clouds are the dust beneath His feet. He rebukes the
sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers.
Bashan and Carmel wither; the blossoms of Lebanon
wither. Mountains quake because of Him, and the
hills dissolve; indeed the earth is upheaved by His
presence, the world and all the inhabitants in it.
Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure
the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out
like fire, and the rocks are broken up by Him. The
LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble,
and He knows those who take refuge in Him." (NAS)
Matthew 7:24 -- "Therefore
everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts
upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built
his house upon the rock." (NAS)
Romans 9:33 -- "just as it is
written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling
and a rock of offense, and he who believes in Him
will not be disappointed." (NAS)
1 Corinthians 10:4 -- "and all
drank the same spiritual drink, for they were
drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them;
and the rock was Christ." (NAS)
II Thessalonians 3:3 -- "But
the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and
protect you from the evil one." (NAS)
1 Peter 2:4-10 -- "And coming
to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but
choice and precious in the sight of God, you also,
as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual
house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
For this is contained in Scripture: "Behold I lay in
Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone and he
who believes in Him shall not be disappointed." This
precious value, then, is for you who believe. But
for those who disbelieve, "The stone which the
builders rejected, this became the very corner
stone, and, "A stone of stumbling and a rock of
offense;"for they stumble because they are
disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were
also appointed. But you are a chosen race, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own
possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies
of Him who has called you out of darkness into His
marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but
now you are the people of God; you had not received
mercy, but now you have received mercy." (NAS)
