Deuteronomy
7:21 -- "You shall not dread them, for the LORD your
God is in your midst, a great and awesome God."
(NAS)
Deuteronomy 10:17-22 -- "For
the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of
lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God
who does not show partiality, nor take a bribe. "He
executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and
shows His love for the alien by giving him food and
clothing. "So show your love for the alien, for you
were aliens in the land of Egypt. "You shall fear
the LORD your God; you shall serve Him and cling to
Him, and you shall swear by His name. "He is your
praise and He is your God, who has done these great
and awesome things for you which your eyes have
seen. "Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy
persons in all, and now the LORD your God has made
you as numerous as the stars of heaven." (NAS)
Nehemiah 1:5 -- "And I said, "I
beseech Thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and
awesome God, who preserves the covenant and
lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His
commandments," (NAS)
Nehemiah 4:14 -- "When I saw
their fear, I rose and spoke to the nobles, the
officials, and the rest of the people: "Do not be
afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and
awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons,
your daughters, your wives, and your houses." (NAS)
Nehemiah 9:32 -- "Now
therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the
awesome God, who dost keep covenant and
lovingkindness, do not let all the hardship seem
insignificant before Thee, which has come upon us,
our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets,
our fathers, and on all Thy people, from the days of
the kings of Assyria to this day." (NAS)
Job 37:5 -- "God thunders with
His voice wondrously, doing great things which we
cannot comprehend." (NAS)
Job 37:22 -- "Out of the north
comes golden splendor; around God is awesome
majesty." (NAS)
Ecclesiastes 8:16-17 -- "When I gave
my heart to know wisdom and to see the task which
has been done on the earth (even though one should
never sleep day or night), and I saw every work of
God, I concluded that man cannot discover the work
which has been done under the sun. Even though man
should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and
though the wise man should say, "I know," he cannot
discover." (NAS)
Psalm 45:4-9 -- "And in Thy
majesty ride on victoriously, for the cause of truth
and meekness and righteousness; let Thy right hand
teach Thee awesome things. God has ascended with a
shout, the LORD, with the sound of a trumpet. Sing
praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our
King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the
earth; sing praises with a skillful psalm. God
reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy
throne. The princes of the people have assembled
themselves as the people of the God of Abraham; for
the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly
exalted." (NAS)
Psalm 65:1-13 -- "There will be
silence before Thee, and praise in Zion, O God; and
to Thee the vow will be performed. O Thou who dost
hear prayer, to Thee all men come. Iniquities
prevail against me; as for our transgressions, Thou
dost forgive them. How blessed is the one whom Thou
dost choose, and bring near to Thee to dwell in Thy
courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of
Thy house, Thy holy temple. By awesome deeds Thou
dost answer us in righteousness, O God of our
salvation, Thou who art the trust of all the ends of
the earth and of the farthest sea; Who dost
establish the mountains by His strength, being
girded with might; Who dost still the roaring of the
seas, the roaring of their waves, and the tumult of
the peoples. And they who dwell in the ends of the
earth stand in awe of Thy signs; Thou dost make the
dawn and the sunset shout for joy. Thou dost visit
the earth, and cause it to overflow; Thou dost
greatly enrich it; the stream of God is full of
water; Thou dost prepare their grain, for thus Thou
dost prepare the earth. Thou dost water its furrows
abundantly; Thou dost settle its ridges; Thou dost
soften it with showers; Thou dost bless its growth.
Thou hast crowned the year with Thy bounty, and Thy
paths drip with fatness. The pastures of the
wilderness drip, and the hills gird themselves with
rejoicing. The meadows are clothed with flocks, and
the valleys are covered with grain; they shout for
joy, yes, they sing." (NAS)
Psalm 66:3-4 -- "Say to God,
"How awesome are Thy works! Because of the greatness
of Thy power Thine enemies will give feigned
obedience to Thee. "All the earth will worship Thee,
and will sing praises to Thee; they will sing
praises to Thy name." Selah." (NAS)
Psalm 68:35 -- "O God, Thou art
awesome from Thy sanctuary. The God of Israel
himself gives strength and power to the people.
Blessed be God!" (NAS)
Psalm 74:12-17 -- "Yet God is
my king from of old, who works deeds of deliverance
in the midst of the earth. Thou didst divide the sea
by Thy strength; Thou didst break the heads of the
sea monsters in the waters. Thou didst crush the
heads of Leviathan; Thou didst give him as food for
the creatures of the wilderness. Thou didst break
open springs and torrents; Thou didst dry up
ever-flowing streams. Thine is the day, Thine also
is the night; Thou hast prepared the light and the
sun. Thou hast established all the boundaries of the
earth; Thou hast made summer and winter." (NAS)
Psalm 89:7-18 -- "A God greatly
feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome
above all those who are around Him? O LORD God of
hosts, who is like Thee, O mighty LORD? Thy
faithfulness also surrounds Thee. Thou dost rule the
swelling of the sea; when its waves rise, Thou dost
still them. Thou thyself didst crush Rahab like one
who is slain; Thou didst scatter Thine enemies with
Thy mighty arm. The heavens are Thine, the earth
also is Thine; the world and all it contains, Thou
hast founded them. The north and the south, Thou
hast created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at
Thy name. Thou hast a strong arm; Thy hand is
mighty, Thy right hand is exalted. Righteousness and
justice are the foundation of Thy throne;
lovingkindness and truth go before Thee. How blessed
are the people who know the joyful sound! O LORD,
they walk in the light of Thy countenance. In Thy
name they rejoice all the day, and by Thy
righteousness they are exalted. For Thou art the
glory of their strength, and by Thy favor our horn
is exalted. For our shield belongs to the LORD, and
our king to the Holy One of Israel." (NAS)
Psalm 99:3 -- "Let them praise
Thy great and awesome name; Holy is He." (NAS)
Psalm 106:21-22 -- "They forgot
God their Savior, who had done great things in
Egypt, Wonders in the land of Ham, and awesome
things by the Red Sea." (NAS)
Psalm 111:9 -- "He has sent
redemption to His people; He has ordained His
covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name."
(NAS)
Psalm 135:5-14 -- "For I know
that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above
all gods. Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, in
heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.
He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the
earth; who makes lightnings for the rain; who brings
forth the wind from His treasuries. He smote the
first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast. He sent
signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, upon
Pharaoh and all his servants. He smote many nations,
and slew mighty kings, Sihon, king of the Amorites,
and Og, king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of
Canaan; And He gave their land as a heritage, a
heritage to Israel His people. Thy name, O LORD, is
everlasting, Thy remembrance, O LORD, throughout all
generations. For the LORD will judge His people, and
will have compassion on His servants." (NAS)
Psalm 145:5-13 -- "On the
glorious splendor of Thy majesty, and on Thy
wonderful works, I will meditate. And men shall
speak of the power of Thine awesome acts; and I will
tell of Thy greatness. They shall eagerly utter the
memory of Thine abundant goodness, and shall shout
joyfully of Thy righteousness. The LORD is gracious
and merciful; slow to anger and great in
lovingkindness. The LORD is good to all, and His
mercies are over all His works. All Thy works shall
give thanks to Thee, O LORD, and Thy godly ones
shall bless Thee. They shall speak of the glory of
Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power; To make known to
the sons of men Thy mighty acts, and the glory of
the majesty of Thy kingdom. Thy kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and Thy dominion endures
throughout all generations." (NAS)
Isaiah 64:3 -- "When Thou didst
awesome things which we did not expect, Thou didst
come down, the mountains quaked at Thy presence."
(NAS)
Daniel 9:4 -- "And I prayed to
the LORD my God and confessed and said, "Alas, O
Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His
covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him
and keep His commandments," (NAS)
Joel 2:11-13 -- "And the LORD
utters His voice before His army; surely His camp is
very great, for strong is he who carries out His
word. The day of the LORD is indeed great and very
awesome, and who can endure it? "Yet even now,"
declares the LORD, "Return to me with all your
heart, and with fasting, weeping, and mourning; And
rend your heart and not your garments. "Now return
to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and
compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in
lovingkindness, and relenting of evil." (NAS)
Joel 2:31 -- "The sun will be
turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes."
(NAS)
Matthew 3:9 -- "and do not
suppose that you can say to yourselves, 'We have
Abraham for our father'; for I say to you, that God
is able from these stones to raise up children to
Abraham." (NAS)
Romans 1:18-23 -- "For the
wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress
the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is
known about God is evident within them; for God made
it evident to them. For since the creation of the
world His invisible attributes, His eternal power
and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being
understood through what has been made, so that they
are without excuse. For even though they knew God,
they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but
they became futile in their speculations, and their
foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise,
they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the
incorruptible God for an image in the form of
corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals
and crawling creatures." (NAS)
Romans 10:12 -- "For there is
no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same
Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who
call upon Him;" (NAS)
1 Corinthians 11:3 -- "But I
want you to understand that Christ is the head of
every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and
God is the head of Christ." (NAS)
1 Corinthians
14:33 -- "for God is not a God of confusion but of
peace, as in all the churches of the saints." (NAS)
Hebrews 1:8-12 -- "But of the
Son He says "Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever,
and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His
kingdom. "Thou hast loved righteousness and hated
lawlessness; therefore God, Thy God, hath anointed
Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy companions."
And, "Thou, Lord, in the beginning didst lay the
foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the
works of Thy hands; They will perish, but Thou
remainest; and they all will become old as a
garment, And as a mantle Thou wilt roll them up; as
a garment they will also be changed. But Thou art
the same, and Thy years will not come to an end."
(NAS)
Hebrews 11:19 -- "He considered
that God is able to raise men even from the dead;
from which he also received him back as a type."
(NAS)
Hebrews 12:28-29 -- "Therefore,
since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God
an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for
our God is a consuming fire." (NAS)
1 John 3:20 -- "in whatever our
heart condemns us; for God is greater than our
heart, and knows all things." (NAS)
