The Holy Spirit Gives Gifts:

Gifts That Will Fade or Fail:

Scripture says that certain miraculous gifts were destined to fade away:

"Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away." 1 Corinthians 13:8 (NAS)

The three miraculous gifts mentioned specifically are:

1. The Gifts of Prophecy (proclaiming God's word through direct revelation from the Holy Spirit) - "they will be done away."
2. Gift of Tongues (speaking fluently in foreign languages you have not studied by the power of the Holy Spirit) - "they will cease."
3. Gift of Knowledge (having knowledge about things you have not studied by the power of the Holy Spirit) - "it will be done away."
